The Mattress Doctor - Specialist Mattress Cleaning for North London and North West London
We remove dirt and dust mites from within your mattress and bacteria from the surface
We come to your home with our portable equipment. We ask about any allergies you or your family may have and demonstrate the process to give us an indication of the level of dust and contaminates in your mattress.
How The Mattress Doctor ® System Works
The Mattress Doctor ® three-stage process decontaminates, sterilises and protects.
Stage 1
The decontamination stage removes more than 99.9% of all foreign material that may include mould and fungus spores along with dead skin, dust, live and dead dust mites their excrement and skin which contains harmful allergens. The industrial strength vacuum has an air filtration system pioneered for use in asbestos removal and ensures that allergens are not pumped back into the air. The vacuum is integrated with a unit having a beating action that sets up a high frequency vibration within the mattress or other surface being cleaned. This breaks up and loosens the thick cakey dust inside the mattress and then suctions it out. The combination of vibration and vacuum power gives highly efficient decontamination.
Stage 2
Using The Mattress Doctor UVC Radiation Sterilising Unit, we sterilise the mattress killing bacteria, viruses and spores. This method of chemical free disinfecting has been proven effective in the medical field.
Stage 3
Finally protection is applied in the form of a quick drying spray that is organic and certified safe for adults, children and pets. This natural biocide slows down the metabolic rate and breeding abilities of dust mites that enter the substrate after treatment. Used regularly the spray lengthens the effectiveness of the treatment and provides a healthy environment.
Pillows, Duvets & Sofas
Pillows
Now that you’ve had your mattress deep-cleaned, what
is the next priority to facilitate a healthy sleeping environment?
It has been said that an unclean pillow may contain up
to 100,000 dust mites and many other harmful micro-organisms.
Also that up to a third of the weight of your pillow may
be attributed to dead skin and other contaminants.
The most frequent cleaning instructions that we Mattress
Doctors® see on pillow labels is ‘wash at 40C,
don’t dry clean’. Unfortunately 40C will not
kill dust mites. 60C does the job but the filling of your
pillow is likely to be damaged.
The Mattress Doctor cleaning® system will leave you
with a biologically clean and undamaged pillow. Due to the
vibration applied to the pillow during cleaning a useful
side-effect (for feather or down filled cases) is that pillows
are nicely plumped up due to the separation of fibres which
can become matted due to perspiration during sleep.
Duvets
Because duvets are above the body they do not contain the
same density of dust mites and other contaminants as mattresses
and pillows, but the numbers will still be significant.
Cleaning instruction labels on duvets are usually as for
pillows (see above).
The dust mites that are to be found in duvets will migrate
back into mattresses and pillows, so why not join the majority
of our clients who have mattresses, pillows and duvets all
cleaned on the same day?
Sofas
The Mattress Doctor® cleaning system works wonders outside of the bedroom too!
Over a period of time, sofas, upholstered chairs and cushions collect many types of contaminants. These include the skin cells we shed every day, dust mites that transfer from our clothing, human and animal hair and allergens linked to the above. The allergens can trigger allergic reactions in the form of skin irritation (particularly eczema) or problems with our respiratory systems such as asthma, sinusitis and rhinitis.
The Mattress Doctor® deep cleaning system removes all dust and allergens, not only giving you a healthier living environment but often improving the colour by removing the greyness from the fabric. As with pillows, any cushions that are feather or down filled become plumped up as part of the process.
Our system doesn’t use steam so you’ll be able to use your furniture as soon as the work is finished!
